Glass Bead Strands for Bracelets: A Beginner's Guide

If you want to make your first bracelet, start with a glass bead strand. The beads come ready to string in a matched set, so you skip the hardest part of beading: picking beads that go together.

Pick your strand

BUNCHIC glass strands include pearl, crackle coated, faceted, rondelle, and confetti styles, plus shaped silicone focal strands for accent pieces. Most strands are $15, and Disney strands are $20. For a first bracelet, a single glass pearl or faceted strand is a safe bet. For something with more personality, pair a plain strand with a shaped silicone focal strand.

Make the bracelet

  1. Measure your wrist and cut elastic cord a few inches longer.
  2. String the beads from your strand in the order you like.
  3. Tie off the elastic with a secure knot and a drop of jewelry glue.
  4. Trim the ends and wear it.

Mix, stack, repeat

One strand makes one bracelet, but two or three strands make a stack. Try mixing finishes: a pearl strand with a crackle strand, or a faceted strand with a silicone focal bead in the center.
